NO Astronomical Observing at Fishcreek - Friday 6/08/2007
Regardless of weather, we will NOT be meeting behind Fishcreek Elementary School the next two Fridays due to prior commitments by all the telescope owner/operators you've come to know. Most of us are heavily involved with the ACA (Astronomy Club of Akron, Inc) and have two events to which we're committed - Camp CHOPS (Children's Hospital Oncology Patients & Staff) and Camp WUNDERLUNG (Children's Hospital patients with severe breathing disorders). These events at Camp Christopher are scheduled months ahead and we look forward to showing the campers the wonders of the universe. However, if you're looking forward to doing some astronomical observing this weekend, let me heartily encourage you to come to the observatory owned and operated by the ACA. It's located in the Portage Lakes State Park at 5031 Manchester Rd, Akron, OH 44319. Our program this Saturday June 9 is on Venus and Mercury featuring Venus 30º above the horizon shining at a brilliant magnitude of -4.3 and Mercury still sufficiently above the western horizon to be seen after sunset.
We will be restarting the Stow observing sessions on Friday June 22, weather permitting, of course.
